Jan Finn has 25 years of progressive management and administrative experience in hospital and organ procurement communities. As the President and Chief Executive Officer at Midwest Transplant Network, she is responsible for executive leadership and promoting organ and tissue donation. Under her leadership, MTN has increased donation rates and recovery of organs and tissues to new record levels each year. Finn received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Pittsburg State University and her MSN from the University of Kansas. Finn serves on the Missouri Governor’s Advisory Council on Organ and Tissue Donation. She is a past President of NATCO, an association for transplant professionals. Finn’s commitment and dedication to organ and tissue procurement-related issues were recognized by the Association for Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) in 2004 when she received their Achievement Award. She currently serves as Immediate Past President of AOPO. Additionally, Finn was awarded the Quality in Medicine Award from Freeman Hospital, as well as the Kuhn Award for Outstanding Achievement in Nursing from Missouri Southern University. Finn previously served as President of AOPO.
Lori Markham has 20 years of Midwest Transplant Network leadership experience alongside a background in critical care nursing. As Vice President and the Chief Clinical Officer for MTN, Markham oversees all clinical operations, as well as hospital, family and donation services. Under Markham’s leadership, MTN has seen substantial growth in organ and tissue donation, with 2019 being a record year. With Markham’s guidance, MTN has developed one of the country’s only critical care committees, which ensures every organ donor at MTN is managed by a critical care physician. Markham holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse Executive, both from Rockhurst University and Research College of Nursing. She has served as the Association for Organ Procurement Organizations Procurement Council Chair and on the NATCO Board of Directors. Markham also has been part of the United Network for Organ Sharing’s Membership and Professional Standards and OPO committees. As an invited guest, Markham helped the United Kingdom analyze and develop their current strategic plan for increasing organ donation.
Christy Houston has held various clinical and leadership roles in healthcare, during which she has developed and implemented numerous programs aimed at improving employee health and wellness. As a certified nurse practitioner, Houston previously opened and operated a corporate primary and urgent care clinic available to 14,000 employees and their families. Since joining Midwest Transplant Network in 2013, Houston has held multiple management positions, and she has created numerous employee enrichment programs, including employee training and leadership development. As Chief Administrative Officer, Houston provides executive oversight, guidance and support for various MTN departments — such as Laboratory, Quality and Information Technology — and organizational pillars, including strategic development, process improvement and regulatory compliance. Houston holds two bachelor’s degrees in sociology and nursing as well as two Master of Nursing degrees, all from the University of Missouri system.
Sarah Oland has been working with donor families and hospitals at Midwest Transplant Network since 2002. She brought with her 10 years of experience as a critical care social worker and hospital director. She has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from the University of Kansas. After managing frontline staff who support donor families and donor hospitals, Oland became Chief Stakeholder Engagement Officer in 2022, assuming responsibility for hospital development, organ and tissue authorization, donor family support, community education and marketing services. Oland has served on multiple national planning committees and is a frequent presenter for annual meetings, including the Association for Organ Procurement Organizations and NATCO. She been named Ethics Champion by Center for Practical Bioethics as well as National Social Work Leader of the Year.
Terry Shambles has more than 25 years of executive leadership experience in hospitals and organ procurement organizations. As the Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer at Midwest Transplant Network, he is responsible for the financial leadership of the organization, supporting organizational sustainability and growth. Throughout his career, Shambles has bettered organizational financial performance through increased revenue enhancements and expense improvements. While at MTN, he has identified and led efforts to maximize revenue through improved billing and performance and has identified significant cost savings for the organization. Shambles holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Oklahoma and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. His passion for helping others has been displayed by volunteering and holding numerous board seats within healthcare and civic organizations throughout his career.
Dana Totzke is an experienced human resources executive who has been with MTN for 11 years, during which time she has been instrumental in shaping and implementing MTN’s uniquely personalized employment experience. Totzke is a hands-on leader to a growing team of HR professionals dedicated to addressing MTN’s evolving employee needs as well as recruiting and retaining top-notch talent. Totzke proactively drives MTN’s people strategy and while bringing a particular focus to enhancing MTN’s inclusive culture, holistic employee wellness and employee engagement. Under Totzke’s oversight, MTN has experienced unprecedented employee growth and realignment. Totzke has a passion for leadership and has served on many committees, councils and improvement teams throughout her tenue with MTN. Prior to her tenure at MTN, she held several account executive positions specializing in employee health and welfare benefits. Totzke has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Kansas.
